Partnerships
Chapters are run by volunteers with no budget. What they need is rarely money: it is a room, an hour of somebody’s expertise, or a name to give a family who has nowhere else to ask.
Churches and mosques
You already meet most newly arrived families before we do. A room once a month, and a word from the pulpit that we exist, is worth more to a chapter than anything else on this page.
Employers
If you employ people who arrived recently, they have colleagues who arrived before them and worked it out alone. Telling them about their local chapter costs nothing. If you are hiring, chapters know people whose qualifications from home are better than their American resume suggests.
Universities and colleges
International student offices handle the visa side well and the loneliness side not at all. A chapter is the part that happens after the orientation session ends.
Professionals
Immigration attorneys, tax preparers, realtors and doctors: an hour at a workshop reaches more people than a hundred adverts, and members who come to you afterwards arrive already trusting you. We do not take payment for a listing and never will.
African owned businesses
Chapters keep a directory of people members have actually used. It is not advertising and cannot be bought. If you have served this community well, a member will put you on it.
What we ask
That you do not treat our members as a sales list. A chapter that feels marketed to closes its doors, and then it is not there for the family arriving next month.
If any of that fits, write to us.
